SMITH SKIPS

How big are your skips?

We have a wide range of skips, click here for more details.

How long can I keep the skip for?

The prices listed on this website cover a weeks hire (a full 7 days).

Will your lorry fit onto my drive or through my gates?

You need to allow at least 8' or 2.4m clearance for our trucks to enter your garden. However, where this is not possible we have a skip loader with extendable arms that can drop a skip inside the opening.

I dont' have a driveway for the skip to be placed on, but I have a very low wall and plenty of garden space?

To get around the issue of having to apply and pay for a council permit, we have often lifted skips over walls around or below 3' (0.9m). Please call 01623 555009 for more information.

What if I need the skip to be placed on the road?

In this case you will need a council permit. Don't worry though, we will sort all that out for you. There is an additional cost of £80.00-£90.00 for this service and you will need to wait approx 24-48 hours (depending on the local council).

What types of waste can I place in the skip and can it be mixed?

Here are a list of the things you CANNOT put into our skips.

Abestos
Tyres
Fridges and Freezers
Gas Bottles
Full Paint Tins
Needles

Other than these things and other obvious hazardous materials, you can put anything you like into the skip and it can also be mixed!

Is it cheaper if I have the skip for less than seven days?

Unfortunately not. Our prices are based on tipping charges (i.e. landfill tax) and running costs therefore it is the same price whether you have the skip for a day, or up to seven days.

What happens to my waste?

We operate a 'TransferStation' that is used to sort through all the waste and recycle as much of it as possible. Please see the about us page for more information.

Why is another company a lot cheaper?

As you can probably imagine, the skip hire industry is plagued with rogue cowboys.

If you have received a quote that is a lot cheaper, be careful you are not dealing with someone who hasn't got the facilities to dispose of your waste correctly.

Fly-tipping is getting more and more common as the Government increases thigns like landfill tax and if your waste is tipped illegally then you could face a fine.

Smiths Skips are fully legal and you can rest assured that your waste will be disposed of properly.

How can I pay?

We accept both Credit and Debit Cards.
